Overview

This position will lead a variety of projects and teams to apply Quest Management System (QMS) principles and tools to ensure Quest Diagnostics Health Systems and Professional Laboratory Partnerships is efficient and effective in the delivery of its services, solutions, and processes while improving customer and employee satisfaction. This position will evaluate Health Systems data to find insights that allow us to prioritize what we focus on to have the highest customer value.  This position will gain alignment from the organization to drive improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Leads process improvement projects and working teams to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and close projects  
    • Leads projects 
      • Leads projects through issues, roadblocks, and problems 
      • Acts as a change agent to drive teams toward success 
      • Guides team members to perform through issues and constraints 
    • Owns projects 
      • Owns the timeline, budget, resource constraints, and deliverables/results 
      • Shifts between the big picture and the small-but-crucial details 
      • Is prepared to roll up their sleeves and work through detailed issues 
    • Manages projects 
      • Ensures all appropriate tools are completed and used effectively (e.g., charter, Gantt chart, status updates) 
      • Tracks and trends leading and lagging metrics related to projects
    • Communicates 
      • Actively communicates with project sponsors and stakeholders including project status and updates
      • Establishes regular points of communication 
      • Manages sponsor and stakeholders’ expectations 
      • Project roadblocks
    • Delivers the expected results 
      • Performs root cause analysis on project shortfalls and takes corrective action as necessary 
  • Applies project management tools and techniques, as well as other QMS principles and tools, toward a variety of large, and likely inter-related, projects 
  • Leads/Participates in Communities of Practice 
  • Documents business processes 
  • Completes required continued learning 

Qualifications

Required Work Experience:  

  • Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement projects from initiation to completion (4 to 6 years’ experience) 

Preferred Work Experience:  

  • Participation/Leading Kaizen events
  • Participation/Leading GEMBA Walking
  • Project management
  • Back Belt training
  • Background in Laboratory Operations
  • Developing leading and lagging metrics 

Physical and Mental Requirements:  

  • The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects 
  • Frequent walking and/or standing. 

Knowledge:  

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating discussions or workshops  
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with others 
  • Demonstrated experience leading changes 
  • Demonstrated ability to influence business leaders 
  • Demonstrated data analysis skills 
  • Some experience in continuous improvement 
  • Some experience with process management 
  • Basic knowledge of VOC tools 
  • General knowledge of Hoshin and breakthrough planning 
  • Basic knowledge of QMS tools
  • Laboratory regulatory standards

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Project Management or other related degree required.

LICENSECERTIFICATIONS
Formal training in project management or continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Total Quality Management, Lean, Theory of Constraints)

Quest QMS Bronze certification Preferred
